Bea Asurmendi

Born in the Basque Country and now based in London, vocalist and composer Bea Asurmendi is making her mark on the UK jazz and world music scene. A Guildhall School of Music & Drama graduate and Help Musicians UK awardee, she has performed at leading venues including Pizza Express Jazz Club, 606 Club, and the EFG London Jazz Festival—where she sold out her show.Her debut album Asteartea has received critical acclaim across Basque outlets (EITB, El Diario Vasco, Naiz, Gaztea) and UK platforms such as JazzFM and One Jazz. UK Jazz News called it “a beautifully mature and explorative work with real range, not only in the exploration of difficult topics but also in the soundworld itself.” Hailed by El Correo as “one of the great revelations of the Basque scene,” Bea has also been praised for a voice “sincere and honest in a disarming way: strong and pure” (Women in Jazz Media) and for its “distinctive sensitivity” (UK Jazz News).She will be joined by Giovanni Cresseri (bass), Gianluca Corona (guitar), Milena Granci (piano), Filippo Galli (drums), and Demi García Sabat (percussion).
